National Allied Health Strategy
Harnessing the collective value of the Allied Health Professionals’ diverse expertise for better patient outcomes
About the National Allied Health Strategy
Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) play a vital and growing role in Singapore's healthcare system, yet fragmented and siloed care delivery have limited their full potential. The National Allied Health Strategy (NAHS) was developed to strengthen capabilities, enhance integration, and enable more sustainable, patient-centred care.

Phase 1 AHPs under the NAHS
To support strategic planning, the NAHS will start with Phase 1 AHPs, based on the readiness of existing training pathways and recognised qualification requirements.
Workforce development efforts under the NAHS across Phase 1 AHP professions may vary according to evolving workforce requirements and readiness.
Phase 1 is a starting point for workforce development under the NAHS. Professionals not classified as Phase 1 AHPs continue to be recognised and valued for their unique skills and contributions. They continue to be supported through their respective institutions, professional bodies and national development efforts, where applicable.
The NAHS does not serve as a framework for determining the need for professional registration.

Background study and key findings
To support the development of the NAHS, a background study was conducted with the following objectives:
Identify gaps and challenges in AHP service delivery
Define the envisaged future state and key enablers for transformation
Develop strategic focus areas to build future ready AHPs
Outline actionable initiatives for further deliberation
An iterative and structured approach was deployed which involved stakeholder co-creation and validation. Analysis of the findings from the study identified six interrelated factors influencing preparedness and job satisfaction. These factors informed the three NAHS Strategic Areas.
