Learn the details about the Government Indemnity for COVID-19 claims lapses on or after 1 January 2025.
Please be advised that the provision of Government Indemnity against claims arising from work carried out by medical practitioners, healthcare workers and volunteers deployed to support whole-of-government COVID-19 efforts will lapse with effect from 1 January 2025.
For avoidance of doubt, this means that the Government no longer provides indemnity cover for claims received on or after 1 January 2025, but will continue to provide indemnity for claims received prior to 1 January 2025 and which have not been closed.
This does not affect any existing indemnity schemes for the management of medical conditions (including COVID-19) provided by healthcare providers.
