Dental Fee Benchmarks
Dental Practitioners
1 September 2025
In March 2025, the Ministry of Health announced at the Committee of Supply the enhancement of CHAS dental subsidies and the intention to introduce fee benchmarks for common dental procedures to promote fee transparency and ensure that enhanced subsidies translate into lower out-of-pocket costs for patients.
The Ministry of Health has published fee benchmarks for common dental procedures performed in the primary care setting.
What are dental fee benchmarks?
Dental fee benchmarks are recommended charges for common dental procedures in private clinics in the primary care setting. They serve as a reference point for what patients could expect to pay for routine and typical cases. These benchmarks aim to promote fee transparency and ensure that enhanced subsidies translate to lower out-of-pocket costs for patients.
How were the dental fee benchmarks developed?
The Ministry of Health convened the Dental Fee Benchmarking Advisory Committee (DFBAC) to develop dental fee benchmarks. Beyond the DFBAC, dental stakeholders, including professional associations, were engaged on the principles and general methodology used in developing the fee benchmarks.
What do the dental fee benchmarks cover?
The current benchmarks cover dental procedures subsidised under the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS).
How should patients use the dental fee benchmarks?
Patients can use the fee benchmarks to make better informed decisions about their dental care. The fee benchmarks serve as a reference range for common dental procedures, helping patients understand what constitutes reasonable charges. From 1 October 2025, patients visiting CHAS dental clinics will find these fee benchmarks displayed alongside the clinic’s price list.
How should practitioners use the dental fee benchmarks?
The DFBAC recommends using fee benchmarks as a reference point for fair and appropriate fee-setting.
