FY2026 VISITING EXPERT IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY – PROF AARON YU-JEN WU

Prof Aaron Yu-Jen Wu is the Ministry of Health’s HMDP Visiting Expert in Implant Dentistry. His HMDP Programme is scheduled for 31 Aug 2026 to 4 Sep 2026
Prof. Aaron Yu-Jen Wu, DDS, MS, is a professor at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Department of Dentistry for CGMH’s Northern Cluster. His previous leadership appointments include Chair of the Department of Dentistry, Director of the Section of Periodontics, and Chief of the International Medical Centre at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. He also served as President, Taiwan Academy of Periodontology.
Prof. Wu earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Kaohsiung Medical University. He completed postgraduate training in general dentistry and periodontology at CGMH, followed by advanced prosthodontics training at the University of Southern California (USC), USA, where he also served as a clinical instructor in the School of Dentistry. On top of receiving the USC Graduate Prosthodontics Certificate, he also obtained a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology from USC. Licensed to practice in both Taiwan and the State of Washington, USA, he holds specialized board certifications in Periodontology, Prosthodontics, Family Dentistry, and Special Needs Dentistry.
His clinical expertise centres on full-arch implant rehabilitation, including All-on-4 treatment concepts and immediate function protocols. Between October 2013 and December 2021, the Department of Dentistry at Kaohsiung CGMH performed over 500 All-on-4 full-arch implant procedures, achieving a reported success rate of up to 98%.
Prof. Wu has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed research publications in implant dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontology, and oral rehabilitation. His published work focuses on immediately loaded full-arch fixed prostheses, implant biomechanics, abutment screw performance, implant design for mandibular full-arch fixed dentures, maxillary sinus anatomy relevant to sinus lift procedures, and the management of complications in dental implant treatment.
