Dr. Gans received his PhD from The Ohio State University with a specialty in auditory-vestibular neurophysiology. Since then, he has been a prolific educator and researcher with 150 international presentations in 40 countries, publications, and textbook chapters. Dr. Gans has had appointments as an adjunct Professor at numerous universities including; University of Pittsburgh, University of Florida, University of South Florida, Nova Southeastern University and A.T. Still University. He served as the President of the American Academy of Audiology (2004-05) and received its Distinguished Achievement Award in 2016. He is a lifetime member of the American Speech Hearing Language Association (ASHA) and a Research Science Member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head- Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). He is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, for his significant contributions to medical education from A.T. Still University, the first osteopathic medical school in the USA.
Dr. Gans is the Founder (1992) of The American Institute of Balance (AIB), a global healthcare organization for which he served as its CEO until 2024. The AIB operates the largest clinical and educational networks of 400 ENT and neurology specialists in 60 clinic locations and 15,000 AIB trained and Certified rehabilitation specialists in the USA providing tens of thousands of evaluations and therapy sessions annually. AIB has a strategic partner in India, AIB-INDIA in partnership with Sun-Pharma and Abbot Laboratories is providing continuing medical education to thousands of physicians regarding dizziness and balance management. His non-profit Foundation has provided free balance testing for hundreds of uninsured children as well as providing educational support to over 60 audiology and ENT residents and Fellows. Dr. Gans is committed to the global education of all practitioners serving those children and adults with equilibrium and vestibular disorders.
