Visiting Expert in The Omaha system: An introduction to practice, documentation, and information management
Prof Frances Wong is the Ministry's HMDP Visiting Expert in the Omaha System: An Introduction to Practice, Documentation, and Information Management. The HMDP Programme is scheduled for 11 April 2025 to 17 April 2025.
About the visit/HDMP expert
Dr Frances Kam Yuet Wong obtained her professional qualification of Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Education, PhD in Sociology, Registered Nurse, and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
She is currently a Chair professor (Advanced Nursing Practice) and an Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
She has published 222 refereed articles, edited 5 books and 18 book chapters and her works have been cited over 6060 times in the literature. Her h-index is 37. She has obtained over HK$113.7 million for her research and consultancy work as a principal investigator or co-investigator in the recent five years. She is also a pioneer in establishing APN education and practice model in China and engaged in international research work in advanced nursing practice. She is the past president of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing and an Alumni Subgroup Members of ICN Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse Network.
Currently, she is serving as the Member of Hospital Authority Clinical Ethics Committee and a Member of the Governance Board of The Hong Kong Children Hospital and advisors to a number of hospitals. She is an appointed member on a number of government boards including the Social Welfare Advisory Committee and Rehabilitation Advisory Committee and an outgoing Member of the Steering Committee on Primary Healthcare Development.
Dr Wong is Member of the Omaha System Board of Directors. She has given numerous Omaha System speeches, consultation, mentored educators and students in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Finland and Norway. She was awarded with Omaha System Excellence in Research in 2017. The official Chinese Omaha System is translated by Dr Wong and her team. Currently she is supporting an insurance company to incorporate the Omaha System in its service system in Mainland China.
Dr Wong has been honoured as the "Nurse Role Model in Southern Guangdong" by the Guangdong Nurses Association.
