Visiting Expert in Management of asthma in primary care
Professor Sir Aziz Sheik is the Ministry of Health’s HMDP Visiting Expert in Management of Asthma in Primary Care. His HMDP Programme is scheduled for 26 May 2025 to 30 May 2025.
About the visit/HDMP expert
Sir Aziz Sheikh is Nuffield Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences and the Head of Department of the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.
Aziz is the founding Director of the 17-university Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research, established and now serves as Deputy Director of the NIHR RESPIRE Global Respiratory Health Unit, which operates across seven Southeast Asian countries, and is the Director of the Centre for Applied Respiratory Research Innovation and Implementation.
He is a fellow of nine learned societies and has received numerous awards for his work. He was previously Visiting Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and currently serves as Visiting Professor at LKCMedicine.
Aziz was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for ‘Services to Medicine and Health Care’ in 2014 and a Knight Bachelor in 2022 for ‘Services to COVID-19 Research and Policy’.
