Eligibility for Medical Residency Programmes

Graduands of Singapore medical schools and those with primary medical qualifications registrable under the Medical Registration Act (First Schedule) are eligible to apply to the Residency Programme.
Graduands of Singapore medical schools and those with primary medical qualifications registrable under the Medical Registration Act (First Schedule) are eligible to apply to the Residency Programme. This includes current House Officers (HOs) and Medical Officers (MOs). Graduands with non-registrable medical qualifications may be considered on a case to case basis. In addition, graduands from overseas need to secure an offer of employment as a doctor from MOHH or local healthcare institutions before they are eligible to apply.

Medical Officers (MO), House Officers (HO) and medical students in their final year are eligible to apply for the following specialties:Emergency Medicine
Internal Medicine
General Surgery
Paediatric Medicine
Preventive Medicine
Psychiatry
HO / TY Programmes (Entry after PGY 1)
Medical Officers (MO), House Officers (HO) and medical students in their final year are eligible to apply for Family Medicine or the following specialties which require a Transitional Year (TY) or equivalent (eg Housemanship year).Anaesthesiology

Orthopaedic Surgery
Otorhinolaryngology

Transitional Year
The Transitional Year (TY) Programme is designed to fulfil the education needs of graduands who desire a well-balanced, broad-based year in different disciplines within the structured framework of a Sponsoring Institution.Clinician Scientist (CS) Residency Programme
The CS residency programme is designed to provide training opportunities in the clinical disciplines as well as research. In general, the total duration of training for CS residents is one year more than the clinical track, including at least a year of research training.
